Seminar on National Energy Policy 2015
Urja Prabodhan Kendra, a dedicated group of senior professionals, who study state/national power issues organized a seminar to discuss national energy policy issues. This seminar was conducted at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research on the 5th of August. Students from 8 academic institutions in Mumbai attend this event. In total, about 200 participants benefited from the seminar.
Dr Banerjee (Dean of SPJIMR) talked about the need to translate complex policies into easily understandable actions.
Dr Karhade spoke at this seminar and urged students to think about the triple bottom line – namely profits, planet and people. Dr Karhade clarified that business initiatives can be good for both profits and the planet; and that companies need to find ways to incentivize people to behave in a sustainable manner.
Mr D. M. Sukthankar (Ex-Chief Secretary of Government of Maharashtra) was the chief guest and Dr Pramod Deo (Ex-Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) Chairman) delivered the keynote address. Mr V P Raja (Ex- Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) Chairman gave the valedictory address.
This seminar brought together thought leaders from the industry (Dr. R R Sonde from Thermax) and academia (Rajkiran Bilolikar, Administrative Staff College of India).
Findings from this seminar will soon be forwarded to the NITI Aayog.
